OUR PROJECTS

Archipelago project

This project monitors the state of the Baltic Sea and archipelago nature in the following ways:

  1. The state of the Baltic Sea and archipelago nature will be monitored, mainly by monitoring the population development and well-being of eiders.
  2. Invasive alien species are controlled. Here we focus on raccoon dogs and the American mink, which are the most harmful to birds. Removing these two species from valuable nesting areas, we can also give a chance to declining bird species.
  3. We raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity in the Baltic Sea, promote understanding of the harmful effects of invasive alien predators and promote the acceptance of their removal in society.

We build faith in the efficiency of the work done for the Baltic Sea and our archipelago nature.

The Baltic Sea is a unique sea where both lake and marine species meet. It is a diverse and vibrant environment. Human impacts characterize the Baltic Sea and its environment, and one threat to biodiversity is invasive alien species.
