OUR PROJECTS
Archipelago project
This project monitors and protects Baltic Sea and archipelago ecosystems through three approaches:
- We track the health of Baltic Sea and archipelago wildlife primarily through eider population studies, using these seabirds as indicators of overall ecosystem well-being.
- We target raccoon dogs and American mink, the most destructive predators to native bird populations. By removing these invasive species from critical nesting areas we help restore habitat for declining native bird species
- We educate communities about Baltic Sea biodiversity, raise awareness of the ecological damage caused by invasive predators and build public support for removal efforts.
Through these efforts, we aim to demonstrate the effectiveness of active conservation work in protecting our unique Baltic Sea environment.
The Baltic Sea represents a remarkable ecosystem where freshwater and marine species coexist, creating exceptional biodiversity. However, human activities have introduced significant pressures, with invasive alien species posing a particular threat to this delicate balance.
